Cosmology of the Xenaverse

[SEASON 2-6 SPOILERS]

This is my interpretation of how the different planes presented in XWP would work with the rules planar rules in the DMG.
My principles have been to follow the series and avoid importing chunks of mundane mythology unless obvious gaps have to be filled. To me, XWP is fantasy with a Mythic Greece flavour, not Mythic Greece with a fantasy flavour. While there’s fun to be had tracing influences, the sheer irreverence of the eclecticism of TPTB is a trademark of the series.
The descriptions apply to the conditions in the beginning of the series. Make the appropriate changes if you, for example, are running a campaign in season 6…
Note that the Xenaverse lacks true Transitive Planes. Many planes are adjacent to other planes, but there is no plane that allows travel to a large number of other planes, like the Ethereal or Astral Planes of the core D&D cosmology. The plane that is nearest to being a Transitive Plane is in fact the Known World!
Also note that the term "Xenaverse" is here used in a cosmological sense, not in a social one as in "the global community of Xenites".

USING STANDARD COSMOLOGY WITH THE KNOWN WORLD (3.5 and 4E)

NO ASTRAL AND ETHEREAL?
A strict reading of the D&D 3.5 rules prohibits certain spells from working in a cosmology without an Astral and Ethereal plane. So, how are things in the Xenaverse?
Just fine, thank you. The gods are tied to the world in a more direct manner than in many cosmologies. This works both ways. The Xenaverse is in touch with the divine. One side effect of that symbiosis is a permeability that allows “short-cut” spells to work. This has nothing to do with culture, per se. It is just an aspect of the basic fabric of existence.
