BRITANNIA
WHERE: Modern England, Scotland
and Wales.
ORGANIZATION: Region (homogenous
but not united)
FORMAL RULER: -
POLITICS: There are many
tribes of varied strength and importance. They feud, trade and ally with
each other as circumstances and the whims of their leaders dictate.
DON’T: Discrespect the druids
or the tribe you visit.
FIGHTING: Carrying weapons
is quite alright and quite common, as is brawling. Serious fights with
weapons are discouraged by custom and whatever strong locals are at hand.
But if two people agree to a duel, it's a spectator sport.
NOTED DANGERS: Forest
banshees, savages
NON-CANONICAL INSPIRATION:
The Celtic tribes at the time just before the Roman conquest are fairly
well known (although sprinkled with controversies and mysteries as with
all research on ancient lands) and form the framework of this area. I’ve
added a sprinkling of other legends here and there (Arthurian and other).
Note: the map is somewhat
large. This is because most of the places named in the series are close
to each other in southern Britannia. It was either a large map with large
areas without much to see (yet), or a smaller map of only parts of the
island. After some thought I decided that a small, truncated map would've
been too misleading.
Eire is
included on this map since sizeable parts of it would've been visible anyway.
